Effective February 12, 2018, the registration of Sea Agra Seafood Brokerage Ltd. was reinstated and the company was allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

January 31, 2018, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the fish import licence of Sea Agra Seafood Brokerage Ltd. (SASB) located in Vancouver, BC, effective January 19, 2018.

There is no recall associated with this suspension.

The licence suspension is the result of the importer distributing a lot of imported fish without authorization from the CFIA as required by Section 6(2,2) of the Fish Inspection Regulations (FIR).

The company may not import fish into Canada while its fish import licence is suspended. An appeal can be requested within 60 days of suspension of the fish import licence. This request must be accompanied by an acceptable, written corrective action plan (CAP).

Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended, cancelled or refused renewal for failure to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its website.
