Invitation to comment:
CFIA user fee proposal for overtime

29 October 2012 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is inviting comments on a user fee proposal for overtime.

Periodically, the CFIA receives requests from service recipients to deliver services outside of the CFIA's regular working hours. In these instances, the service recipient may also be subject to pay overtime fees for the additional costs incurred by the CFIA to accommodate the request.

The proposed overtime fees would continue to apply to services delivered by the CFIA that:

i. are provided at the request of a service recipient; and

ii. are requested to be provided outside of the regular working hours or, where applicable, the expanded service window.

In addition, the proposal introduces the following new criteria:

iii. overtime fees will only be charged where there is a user fee for the service itself.

The proposal sets out revised overtime fees to be introduced as early as April 1, 2013.
