Understanding the status of your My CFIA service request

One of the major benefits of using My CFIA to do business with the Agency is that you can track the status of your service requests.

If you have applied for a licence, permit, registration, or certificate using My CFIA, it is important that you check the status of the request so you are aware if:

Step-by-Step guide

To track the status of a service request you have submitted or saved, sign in to your My CFIA account. Once signed in, make sure your validated party that submitted the service request is selected by clicking the white drop down box under Party Administration (highlighted in red below), clicking on the proper validated party and clicking Select:

Now scroll down to the Service Request section of your party profile dashboard, where you will be presented with all previously submitted service requests. This section should look similar to this:

On the Service request tab: Welcome to your Service Request Dashboard. On this page you can view your current or past service requests and create new service requests.

Showing results for Service Requests for: Export Experts (Validated Party)

Search results appear in a table that includes the following columns:

  • Request ID (hyperlinked)
  • Application Name
  • Service Request Type
  • Created On
  • Date of Submission
  • Status
  • Status Reason
  • Creator/Submitter
  • You can sort the table by column heading or filter using keywords.

Find the request you would like to track the status of by referring to the Application Name or Request ID columns.
To determine the status of your service request, refer to the Status Reason column. The image above shows two possible status indicators.

Definitions of all possible statuses

Status Case Type Status Reason Definition
Active Export or permission Open - Draft Your service request may not have been submitted, you may need to add additional information before the request can be processed.
Active Export or permission Open - Submitted Your service request has been submitted for processing.
Active Export or permission In Progress - Awaiting manual validation For a variety of possible reasons, your service request requires a CFIA agent to manually review it.
Active Permission In Progress - Technical review pending For a variety of possible reasons, your service request requires a CFIA agent to manually review it.
Active Export or permission In Progress - CFIA inspection triggered Application to be reviewed by inspection staff – you may or may not require an inspection.
Active Export or permission In Progress - Issuance in progress The CFIA is in the process of issuing the permission/certificate you have requested.
Active Permission On Hold - Awaiting information from applicant Your permission application has been submitted, however the CFIA requires additional information before the request can be processed.
Active Export or permission On Hold - Awaiting payment You need to pay for the permission you have requested before it can move forward.
Active Permission On Hold - Awaiting product/ establishment availability Your service request will remain on-hold until your product or establishment is available for inspection.
Resolved Export or permission Closed - Complete Your service request is complete and your permission or certificate has been issued.
Cancelled Permission Denied - Enforcement Your permission service request has been denied due to regulatory reasons.
Active Export or permission On Hold - Profile validation pending Your service request will remain on-hold until a CFIA agent can validate your profile information.
Active Export In Progress - Response investigation Your export certificate case is being investigated in response to a Foreign Competent Authority (FCA) request.
Active Export In Progress - Awaiting certification decision All inspection processes have been completed. A decision is being made on the issuance of the export certificate
Active Export On Hold - Awaiting payment decision The case processing fees for the export certificate are being calculated.
Active Export On Hold - Task pending You must complete a portal task before your application for an export certificate can continue. This could include additional information or supporting documents.
Active Export On Hold - Awaiting ASP inspection An ASP inspection must occur before your application for an export certificate can continue.
Active Export On Hold - Amendment requested You have requested an amendment to your application for an export certificate.
Active Export On Hold - Emergency response/ control measure A hazard has been identified and requires mitigation before your application for an export certificate can continue. For example: a recall, commodities are banned for export, or a food safety issue.
Cancelled Export or permission Withdrawn - Change in requirements The Foreign Competent Authority (FCA) has changed their requirements and you withdrew your request.
Cancelled Export or permission Withdrawn - Requirements not met The inspection results have indicated that your commodity does not meet all requirements, you withdrew your application.
Cancelled Export or permission Withdrawn - Change in information Information you provided has changed, you withdrew the application.
Cancelled Export or permission Withdrawn - Trade restrictions Trade restrictions for your commodity/country were applied and you withdrew your application.
Cancelled Export Withdrawn - Other An alternative reason has occurred and you withdrew your application.
Resolved Export or permission Denied - Requirements not met Either your facility or commodity do not comply with domestic and/or Foreign Competent Authority (FCA) regulations.
Resolved Permission Denied - Enforcement Your application has been denied due to an enforcement action, set manually by a CFIA agent.
Resolved Export or permission Denied - Trade Restrictions There has been a change in market access that has resulted in border closures. This could include political sanctions, embargoes, or change in disease and pest statuses.
Resolved Export or permission Denied - Application Error An error was made in the information you entered during your application.
