The Canada Food Inspection Agency updates Canada's health status at the national and provincial levels as mandatory notifications of aquatic animal diseases are confirmed.

The tables below outline the current status for immediately notifiable diseases in both wild and cultured aquatic animals. The information is updated in real time to allow Agency staff to certify exports of aquatic animals.

Only confirmed cases are included in this table with the date of the last confirmed detection in parentheses.

The data included in these tables is for export purposes only.

Pathogenic agent: Epizootic ulcerative syndrome (Aphanomyces invadans) – WOAH listed

The CFIA does not exert controls related to disease response or domestic movement or import controls for epizootoic ulcerative syndrome (Aphanomyces invadans) in susceptible species in Canada, but continues to monitor for the presence of the disease and any changes in the epidemiology of the disease.

Epizootic ulcerative syndrome remains subject to mandatory notification in Canada and the CFIA will continue to receive and process notifications of suspicion or detections of epizootoic ulcerative syndrome because it is listed by the World Organization of Animal Health (WOAH; founded as Office International des Épizooties (OIE)).

For purposes of export, country specific requirements related to epizootoic ulcerative syndrome must be met prior to endorsing the aquatic animal health certificate.
