Rinderpest, also known as cattle plague, is a contagious viral disease affecting mainly cattle and buffalo. In May 2011, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) declared that rinderpest had been officially eradicated from the surface of the earth.
In Canada, rinderpest is a reportable disease under the Health of Animals Act.
