Livestock feeds
The manufacture, sale and import of livestock feeds are regulated in Canada under the Feeds Act and regulations and Health of Animals Act and regulations administered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). All feeds must be safe for livestock; for humans (by the potential transfer of residues into human food, that is, meat, milk and eggs, and via worker/bystander exposure); and for the environment. Feeds must also be fit for purpose and must be properly labelled to ensure safe and appropriate use.
