If you would like to export a dog, cat or ferret to the Republic of Türkiye you must comply with all of the requirements outlined on the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock website. Although the site is in Turkish, all of the requirements are outlined in a bilingual (Turkish-English) animal health certificate located on the site. See: Veterinary Health and Origin Certificate of Cats/Dogs/Ferrets with the Passenger Intended to Movements to the Republic of Türkiye.

Please review the certificate and ensure that all requirements are met in advance of travel. One of the requirements is a Rabies Neutralizing Antibody Titre Test. This test must be performed in an approved laboratory three months in advance of export and at least 30 days after rabies vaccination. Note that Türkiye does not accept the 3 years rabies vaccination. Rabies vaccination should be a minimum of 30 days to a maximum of 1 year prior to the flight. Animals younger than 3 months cannot be vaccinated against rabies. Pets younger than 3 months may be allowed to enter into Türkiye with the condition of a 6-month home quarantine. Please note that Türkiye does not have any tick or tapeworm treatment requirements for Canada.

Exporters should also note that pets require an ISO microchip for export. The microchip must be in place prior to rabies vaccination and sampling for the Rabies Neutralizing Antibody Titre Test. For easy reference, the National Companion Animal Coalition's website lists companies that manufacture ISO-compatible microchips.

Please be advised that the Turkish Government does not allow the importation of the following types of dogs:

Pit Bull Terriers, Japanese Tosa, American Pit Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, Rottweiller, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Neapolitan Mastiff, Spanish Mastiff, Dogue de Bordeux, Roman Fighting Dog, Bandog Tosa Inu, Mastiff, Tibetan Mastiff or "similar and mongrel breeds."
