Origin & Breeding History: 'Serendipity' originated a sport mutation discovered by the breeder on September 13, 2012 at a nursery in Zeeland, Michigan, USA. The sport was an uninduced natural mutation attached to the mother plant, the variety 'Millenium'. The new plant was selected at the time of discovery for its flower colour, blooming properties, growth habit and flower height. Asexual propagation of 'Serendipity' by divisions began at the time of discovery in the fall of 2012 in Zeeland, Michigan, USA.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Serendipity' was conducted during the summer of 2022 at Variety Rights Management in Oxford Station, Ontario. Trials consisted of 15 plants each of the candidate and reference variety, each individually grown in 16 cm pots. Pots were spaced approximately 45 cm apart. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants or parts of 10 plants of each variety. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
