Summary: The leaves of 'KLECA16356' have a rounded apex whereas the leaves of 'KLECA10220' have an obtuse apex. The calyx lobe of 'KLECA16356' is short and narrow whereas that of 'KLECA10220' is of medium length and width. The inner side of the newly opened corolla lobe of 'KLECA16356' is medium purple whereas that of 'KLECA10220' is purple to blue pink. The inner side of the aged corolla lobe of 'KLECA16356' is light violet whereas that of 'KLECA10220' is blue pink.

Origin & Breeding History: 'KLECA16356' was developed in Stuttgart, Germany. The new variety originated from a controlled cross made in 2012 between the variety 'CA-2011-0256' as the female parent and 'CA-2011-0404' as the male parent. From this cross, seedlings were selected based on stable double flower type and flower colour. Selected seedlings were evaluated in greenhouse trials from March to May in 2014 and 2015 and were further selected based on root system development, flower colour and time of flowering. A single seedling was selected for commercialization and named 'KLECA16356' in January 2015.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLECA16356' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2017/1689, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2018. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
