Origin & Breeding History: 'Evipo041' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder, Raymond J. Evison, at Domarie Vineries, Les Sauvagées, St. Sampsons, Guernsey in the spring of 1996 between two unnamed seedlings. The resulting seed was germinated in January 1997 and the seedlings were evaluated under controlled conditions. This variety was selected based on its compact growth habit, uniform and abundant flowers, early flowering habit, flower colour and improved disease resistance. 'Evipo041' has since been asexually propagated from vegetative cuttings.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Evipo041' was conducted in an outdoor container trial during the spring of 2014 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included 8 plants of the candidate variety and 6 plants of the reference variety. All plants were received in 4.4 liter containers on April 3, 2014. Observations and measurements were taken from 8 plants of the candidate variety and 6 plants of the reference variety or 10 parts of plants of each variety on June 23, 2014. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
