Summary: The plants of 'GAIZ0005' have a semi-spreading growth habit, with dense to very dense growth, while the plants of 'Sunrita Scarlet Halo' have a spreading growth habit, with medium to dense growth. The upper side of the leaf blade of 'GAIZ0005' is brown green with more grey while the leaf of 'Sunrita Scarlet Halo' is brown green. The inner side of the ray floret of 'GAIZ0005' is mainly yellow orange with dark purple red at the basal half while the ray floret of 'Kiegaldab' is mainly red with yellow orange at the distal third.

Description:

PLANT: semi-spreading growth habit, very short to short, very narrow to narrow, low to medium height/width ratio, dense to very dense branching

LEAF BLADE: long, narrow to medium width, high length/width ratio, upper side is brown green (slightly brighter than RHS 189A), widest at distal quarter, medium degree of lobing/toothing of margin, weak undulation, dense pubescence on upper side

PEDUNCLE: absent or very weak anthocyanin colouration
FLOWER: same height as foliage, semi-double type, small to medium diameter, few to medium number of ray florets
RAY FLORET: all or mostly ligulate type, medium to long, medium to broad, low to medium length/width ratio, mainly yellow orange (RHS 14B) on inner side, secondary colour is dark purple red (RHS 185A) on basal half of inner side, very short corolla tube
RAY FLORET LOBES: deep, medium width, slightly pointed apex

Origin & Breeding History: 'GAIZ0005' was developed as part of a controlled breeding program by the breeder Har Stemkens, an employee of Syngenta, in Enkhuizen, Netherlands. It originated from an open pollinated cross between 'D2674', the female parent variety, and an unknown male parent in August 2008 in Enkhuizen, Netherlands. In May 2009, a single plant from the resulting progeny was selected based on its plant growth habit, branching and large, bi-coloured flowers. Asexual reproduction by cuttings was first conducted in September 2009 in Enkhuizen, Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'GAIZ0005' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2014/0068, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany in Cambridge, United Kingdom in 2015.
