Origin & Breeding History: 'Gaudros' originated from a cross made in August 1999, in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands, between the female parent, 'B0012-1' and the male parent 'C0013-1'. A plant was selected from the resultant progeny in May 2000, and the same plant was selfed. Seeds were sown in January 2001 and the new variety was selected in May 2001, based on criteria for earliness, flower shape and flower colour. Asexual reproduction of the new variety by vegetative cuttings was first conducted in June 2001 in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The tests and trials for 'Gaudros' were conducted in a polyhouse at BioFlora in St. Thomas, Ontario in the summer of 2006. The trials included 15 plants of each variety. Rooted cuttings were transplanted into 15 cm pots on May 10, 2006. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety. All colour measurements were made using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour chart.
