It originated from an open pollinated cross of proprietary hybrid no. 589 conducted in early 1999 at Moshav Mishmar Hashiva in Beit Dagan, Israel. 'Danfestar' was selected in the summer of 1999 based on its flower size and growth habit. Production and performance trials have been conducted since January of 2000.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, CPVO application number 2002/1491, grant number 13705, purchased from the CPVO, Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Israel Testing Authority for Plant Breeders' Rights, Agriculture Research Organization, Volcani Centre, Plant Breeders' Rights Testing Unit, P.O.B. 6, Bet Dagan, 50 250, Israel.
