In September 2005, 'Meiggili' was selected based on its improved, attractive flower colours, spreading ground cover growth habit and attractive foliage.
Tests & Trials: Trials for 'Meiggili' were conducted in an outdoor container trial and then moved indoors during the summer of 2013 at Variety Rights Management, Oxford Station, Ontario. The trial consisted of a total of 11 plants of the candidate variety and 10 plants of the reference variety. All plants were grown from bare-rooted plants and transplanted into 22 cm pots, spaced 45 cm apart. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety in July 2013. All colour determinations were made using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
