Summary: The plants of 'Eversheen' are short to medium height whereas the plants of 'Evergold' are of medium height. The secondary colour of the upper and lower side of the leaf of 'Eversheen' is brown green whereas the secondary colour is light yellow brown for 'Evergold'.
Description:

STEM/CULM: short, thickened rhizomes located underground
LEAF: grass-like, linear shape, keeled, base is sheathing stem
LEAF (UPPER SIDE): two coloured, main colour is dark green (RHS 139A) distributed along margin, secondary colour is brown green (RHS 146C)
LEAF (LOWER SIDE): main colour is brown green (RHS 146C), secondary colour is darker brown green (RHS 146A) distributed along margin
FLOWER: none produced during period of observation
Origin & Breeding History: 'Eversheen' was discovered and developed by the breeder, Pat Fitzgerald, of Stoneyford, County Kilkenny, Ireland. It originated as a naturally occurring chimera mutation of the Carex oshimensis variety 'Evergold'. The breeder discovered 'Eversheen' in August of 2008 in a container at his nursery in Oldtown, Stoneyford. 'Eversheen' was selected for its dwarf plant growth habit, robust growth, and variegated foliage. 'Eversheen' was first propagated asexually by rhizome divisions in August of 2008, in Stoneyford, County Kilkenny, Ireland.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Eversheen' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2014/0175, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Department of Food Science at the University of Aarhus in Aarslev, Denmark, in 2014. The colour determinations were made using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
