Summary: The degree of branching of the plants of 'NCORNSP-019SCSHLM' is medium to strong whereas the degree of branching of the plants of 'Bright Ideas Cordate Lime' is weak to medium. The leaf blade of 'NCORNSP-019SCSHLM' is shorter with an absent to weak degree of rugosity whereas the leaf blade of 'Bright Ideas Cordate Lime' has a medium to strong degree of rugosity. Excluding the anthocyanin colouration, the upper side of the leaf blade of 'NCORNSP-019SCSHLM' is yellow green whereas the leaf blade of 'Bright Ideas Cordate Lime' is yellow green, but more yellow. The lower side of the leaf blade of 'NCORNSP-019SCSHLM' is brown green whereas the leaf blade of 'Bright Ideas Cordate Lime' is light green.

INFLORESCENCE: absent

Origin & Breeding History: 'NCORNSP-019SCSHLM' was bred and developed by the breeders, Dr. G. Craig Yencho, Meri K. Reeber, and Dr. Kenneth V. Pecota, all employees of North Carolina State University, in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. It originated from a cross between the proprietary breeding line designated 'NC5973-009ORN', as the female parent, and the proprietary breeding line designated 'NC6749-006ORN', as the male parent. This cross was conducted between September 2009 and March 2010 at the North Carolina State University Horticultural Field Lab Greenhouses in Raleigh, North Carolina. The resultant seeds were sown in 2010. Based on visual characteristics, seedlings were selected and transplanted to 15 cm pots. Vegetative cuttings of the seedlings were taken for propagation in May 2010. In June 2010, these were planted in a field trial. 'NCORNSP-019SCHLM' was selected on August 11, 2010, in Raleigh, North Carolina, for its plant growth habit, plant vigour, leaf shape, leaf colour, and branching characteristics. 'NCORNSP-019SCHLM' was first propagated by vegetative cuttings in April 2010, in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial of 'NCORNSP-019SCSHLM' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2017 at BioFlora Inc., in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 18, 2017. The observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants or 10 parts of plants of each variety on June 8, 2017. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
