Variety used for comparison: 'Provine'

Summary: The leaf of 'Santiana' has a horizontal to semi-drooping attitude while the leaf of 'Provine' has a horizontal attitude. At the peduncle end, the fruit of 'Santiana' has weak to medium ribbing while that of 'Provine' has weak ribbing. The fruit of 'Santiana' has lighter red skin than the fruit of 'Provine'.

PLANT: indeterminate growth type, medium to tall, flowers mid to late season, late fruit maturity

STEM: absent or very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration, medium to long internode

LEAF: horizontal to semi-drooping attitude, medium to long, medium to broad, bipinnate blade type
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): medium to dark green, weak glossiness, weak to medium degree of blistering
LEAFLET: medium to large, semi-erect attitude of petiole in relation to main axis of leaf

INFLORESCENCE: mainly uniparous type
PEDUNCLE: no abscission layer
FLOWER: yellow, pubescence of style present

IMMATURE FRUIT: no green shoulder, light green skin (excluding shoulder), no green stripes
MATURE FRUIT: large, small length to diameter ratio, oblate shape in longitudinal section, weak to medium ribbing at peduncle end, medium depression at peduncle end, medium sized peduncle scar, small blossom scar, indented to flat at blossom end, medium to large diameter of core (in cross-section) in relation to total diameter when viewed from above, thick pericarp, two and three locules, red skin, strong glossiness of skin, red flesh, firm to very firm

Origin & Breeding History: 'Santiana' (breeder's reference 72-763 RZ) originated from a cross conducted between two proprietary lines in the autumn of 2016 in the Netherlands. The hybrid large cluster tomato variety was selected in 2017 for its plant characteristics for production in heated glass greenhouses, fruit quality and fruit size.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Santiana' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number TMT3540, purchased from the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2020.
