Origin & Breeding History: 'Illumination' was discovered as a naturally occurring sport in a garden patch of a common green leafed Vinca minor in 1995. The new variety was selected on the basis of unique yellow cream coloured variegated foliage with dark green margins.

Tests & Trials: Trials for 'Illumination' were conducted at BioFlora Inc., St. Thomas, Ontario in the summer of 2002. The trials consisted of fifteen plants each of the 'Illumination' and 'Blue & Gold' and ten plants of 'Golden'. All plants were grown outdoors and moved into a poly house in late August for evaluation. Unless indicated all measured characteristics were based on ten measurements.
