To: Veterinarians In Charge (VIC) and Inspector in Charge (ICC) of Beef Slaughter and Processing Establishments.
Please find attached the template (MS Excel) that will be required for reporting STEC results from Beef Trimmings for export to the United States (U.S.).
Operators are required to convey the template to the private laboratories as well as additional instructions requiring the contracted laboratory to report results as outlined in the reporting instructions. In a separate notification, the private laboratories are being requested to cooperate and use the template for reporting results.
I would like to take this opportunity to solicit the cooperation of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) Area Export Specialists in ensuring that operators and their respective CFIA Inspection Staff of all abattoirs producing beef trimmings exported to the U.S. be informed of this new test result reporting requirement.
