Oman – Export requirements for meat and poultry products

2. Labelling, packaging and marking requirements

Importers and exporters are responsible to ensure that products are labelled in accordance with applicable Oman labelling requirements.

3. Product specifications, production controls and inspection requirements

Operators must have written procedures in place to ensure that the meat and meat products exported to Oman did not come in contact with pigs and pig products during slaughter, processing, packaging, storage and transportation to the shipping port.

The written procedures must be reviewed and found satisfactory by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

4. Certification

Additional veterinary certificates that must be issued along with form CFIA/ACIA 1454:

a) Veterinary health certificate for export of bovine and ovine/caprine meat and meat products from Canada to Oman (Annex A) must be issued for beef, ovine and caprine meat products. It can be used for beef over 30 months of age (OTM) and under 30 months of age (UTM)

To meet the certification requirements regarding anthrax in Annex A, the veterinarian must ensure that the farm(s) of origin are not listed on the "Anthrax Suspect Case Chart" (internal access only – RDIMS 3878836)

b) Veterinary health certificate for export of poultry meat and meat products from Canada to Oman (Annex B) must be issued for poultry and poultry meat products

5. Other Information

A certificate in respect to ritual slaughter is required for beef, veal, sheep, goat meat and poultry meats and meat products. The exporter is responsible to make the necessary arrangements with an Islamic Organization to obtain certification acceptable to the Sultanate of Oman authorities.
