General
- Origin & Breeding: bred by Agriculture Canada from (Bake King x Norgold Russet) and selected at the Fredericton Research Station, New Brunswick, in 1968.
- Registration in Canada: deregistered
- Maturity: late.
Botanical Features
- Plants: medium-sized, erect; nodes not swollen; wings narrow, slightly waved.
- Leaves: close, yellowish green.
Terminal leaflets: ovate to obovate.
Primary leaflets: ovate to obovate, four to six pairs.
Secondary leaflets: six to ten pairs.
Tertiary leaflets: usually a few. - Flowers: creamy white, on long peduncles, blossom over an extended period; calyxes yellowish green.
- Tubers: oblong, slightly flattened lengthwise; lightly netted creamy buff skin; few, very shallow eyes; creamy white flesh.
- Sprouts: yellow-green, almost devoid of hairs.
Agricultural Features
High yielding, attractive appearance, skin sets after topkilling, susceptible to skinning at harvest, very short dormancy period, grades well with few culls, suitable for the count-box trade. High total solids.
- Utilization: good to excellent for boiling and baking, unacceptable for chipping.
- Chief Market: count carton trade as a baker.
Reaction to Diseases
Moderately resistant: fusarium dry rot (Fusarium coeruleum and F. sambucinum), phoma rot.
Susceptible: common scab, late blight, leaf roll, verticillium wilt, PVS, PVX, PVY.
