General
- Origin & Breeding: bred by R.L. Plaisted, Cornell University, from the cross (Peconic x bulk of golden nematode susceptible clones) in Ithaca, New York (USA), in 1975.
- Year registered in Canada: 1996

Botanical Features
- Plants: medium size; semi-erect; very thick stems, not pigmented; wings inconspicuous; nodes not swollen.
- Leaves: medium green; semi-open; not pubescent; midribs and petioles not pigmented.
Terminal leaflets: ovate; apex acuminate; base lobed and symmetrical.
Primary leaflets: three pairs; ovate; apex acuminate; base cordate and asymmetrical. - Secondary leaflets: very few.
- Flowers: numerous; lavender corolla with white tips extending to centre of petals; orange anthers; buds weakly pigmented; very low berry production.
- Tubers: round and compressed; large; flaky skin, buff coloured; shallow to medium-deep eyes, moderately numerous, predominantly apical; eyebrows slightly prominent; white flesh.
- Sprouts: spherical; purple; base not pubescent, not pigmented; tip weakly pubescent, moderately pigmented.
Agricultural Features
Medium high yielding variety; few tubers per plant; slow and occasionally erratic emergence; good resistance to hollow heart; medium-long dormancy period; good storability; medium specific gravity.
- Utilization: good to excellent for chipping at harvest and from 7,2 and 10 °C storage; fair to good for boiling and baking but not very suitable as tablestock because of its flaky skin and susceptibility to scab.
- Chief Market: chipping.
Reaction to Diseases
Resistant: golden nematode (G. rostochiensis).
Moderately susceptible: early blight, verticillium wilt.
Susceptible: common scab, potato wart, late blight.
