General
- Origin & Breeding: bred from the cross (Ostara x Renska) made in St. Annaparochie (Netherlands) in 1974.
- Year registered in Canada: 1998
- Registration number: 4815
- Maturity: medium late
Botanical Features
- Plants: medium height, semi-erect growth; stems not pigmented; prominent to very prominent waved double wings; slightly swollen nodes.
- Leaves: olive green, open; weak pubescence on lower surface; midribs have no pubescence and no pigmentation.
Terminal leaflets: medium ovate, apex acute, base cordate and slightly asymmetrical, margins have medium waviness.
Primary leaflets: five pairs, medium to large, narrowly ovate, apex acute; base obtuse to cordate and asymmetrical. - Flowers: numerous, medium sized corolla, white with prominent star, orange anthers; buds have medium pigmentation; high production of berries.
- Tubers: large, oval; smooth light yellow skin, few shallow eyes, predominantly apical; very slightly prominent eyebrows; pale yellow flesh.
- Sprouts: broad cylindrical, medium red-violet pigmentation, sparse pubescence on base.
Agricultural Features
Very high yielding variety, uniform in grading; medium number of tubers per plant. Good resistance to internal bruising. Very low dry matter content. Good storability.
- Utilization: firm texture; very little after cooking discoloration; good for boiling and baking.
- Chief Market: fresh market.
Reaction to Diseases
Immune: potato wart
Resistant: to pathotype A (Ro1) and slightly susceptible to pathotypes BC (Ro2, 3) of the potato cyst nematode.
Good resistance: PVA, tuber late blight.
Moderately resistant: PVX, PVY.
Moderately susceptible: leaf roll.
Susceptible: leaf late blight.
