General
- Origin & Breeding: bred by G. & P. van der Zee, ZPC, from the cross (Jaerla x Nicola) in Leeuwarden (The Netherlands) in 1981.
- Registration in Canada: deregistered
- Maturity: mid-season
Botanical Features
- Plants: medium to tall; semi-erect; stems weakly pigmented; wings straight single, slightly prominent; nodes slightly to moderately swollen, not pigmented.
- Leaves: medium green; semi-open; strongly pubescent on lower surface; midribs and petioles not pigmented.
Terminal leaflets: medium ovate; apex acute; base cordate and very lightly asymmetrical.
Primary leaflets: five pairs; small; narrowly ovate; apex acute; base cordate and asymmetrical. - Flowers: occasional to numerous; small white corolla with prominent star; bright yellow anthers; buds medium to strongly pigmented; peduncles not pigmented; low berry production.
- Tubers: round to oval, large, uniform; smooth to medium rough yellow skin; shallow eyes, few per tuber, evenly distributed; eyebrows slightly prominent; light yellow flesh.
- Sprouts: spherical to ovoid; blue-violet; moderately pubescent; base moderately to strongly pigmented; tip closed; weakly pigmented.
Agricultural Features
High yielding variety; high number of tubers per plant; uniform in grading; good resistance to external and internal bruising; good storability; medium specific gravity.
- Utilization: fairly firm texture; none to trace blackening after cooking; good for baking and boiling.
- Chief Market: fresh market
Reaction to Diseases
Immune: potato wart (race 1)
Resistant: golden nematode (G. rostochiensis race 1).
Highly resistant: PVA, PVX, PVY.
Moderately resistant: leaf roll, tuber late blight, common scab.
Susceptible: foliage late blight.
