To: Importers and manufacturers of veterinary biologics licensed in Canada
This memorandum serves as a renewal reminder for holders of Canadian veterinary biologics establishment licences, product licences, and import permits.
- Veterinary biologics establishment licences and product licences will expire on May 31, 2024
- Annual import permits will expire on June 30, 2024
- Renewal applications will be accepted starting on May 1, 2024
The following forms and guide for renewal of veterinary biologics import permits, as well as renewal information for holders of establishment licences and product licences, are available.

How to renew using the My CFIA portal
- Log in to your My CFIA account
- Under Party Administration: select the validated party that requires the permission renewal
- Under Service Request: click the "Renew a Permission" button
- Under the Permission column: click on the permission number you wish to renew
- Click the "Renew" or "Renew with Changes" button, as applicable
- Follow the instructions on screen and attach the required forms and/or supporting documents, as applicable
- Note any necessary revisions to the permission, as applicable.
- Submit the application and complete the payment in My CFIA at least 2 weeks before your permit or licence expires

Ongoing responsibilities
The manufacturer must ensure that the product file at the Canadian Centre for Veterinary Biologics (CCVB) is kept up to date.
Canadian importers must update the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) Veterinary Biologics Operations (VBO) veterinarian in their region of any major change in their facility or operating procedures.
