Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'Baleehedi' (Bee Happy Red Imp)

Summary: The plants of 'INBIDCAMEM' are smaller than those of 'Baleehedi'. The stem internode of 'INBIDCAMEM' is shorter than that of 'Baleehedi'. The petiole and leaf blade of 'INBIDCAMEM' are shorter than those of 'Baleehedi'. The flower diameter of 'INBIDCAMEM' is smaller than that of 'Baleehedi'. When newly opened, the inner side of the ray floret of 'INBIDCAMEM' has no secondary colour while that of 'Baleehedi' has yellow orange at the base.

LEAF BLADE: rhomboidal shape, acute and mucronate apex, cuneate to attenuate base, serrated and incised margin, no variegation
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): light to medium green, sparse pubescence, absent or very weak glaucosity
LEAF BLADE (LOWER SIDE): light green, sparse to medium pubescence

PEDUNCLE: no anthocyanin colouration, dense pubescence
SEPAL: linear shape
FLOWERING PERIOD: almost continuous, long, mid-season
INFLORESCENCE: head type
FLOWER: flowers at terminal and axillary positions, erect attitude
RAY FLORETS: overlapping arrangement, few, 8 to 9 per flower, elliptic and oval shape, notched/dentate apex, weak recurvature of tip, entire margin, weak undulation of margin
RAY FLORET (INNER SIDE): no pubescence, when newly opened dark purple red (RHS N34A), when fully opened brown red (RHS 179A) and red (RHS 42A) with yellow orange (RHS 14A) at base
RAY FLORET (OUTER SIDE): absent or very sparse pubescence, when newly opened red (RHS 42B) with yellow (RHS 12A) at base, when fully opened brown red (RHS 180C, 179B) with yellow (RHS 9A) at base

Origin & Breeding History: 'INBIDCAMEM' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder, Birgit Hofmann, an employee of InnovaPlant Zierpflanzen GmbH & Co. KG, Gensingen, Germany. The cross was made between two proprietary seedlings, the female parent designated 'B13-4035-1' and the male parent designated 'B13-4018-1' in July 2014 in Heidesheim, Germany. From the resulting progeny, 'INBIDCAMEM' was selected in March 2017 as a single plant for its plant growth habit and flower colour. 'INBIDCAMEM' was first propagated by vegetative cuttings in May 2017 in Gensingen, Germany.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'INBIDCAMEM' was conducted in a polyhouse during the summer of 2020 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. Plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15cm pots on April 17, 2020. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety on June 4, 2020. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
