Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'IFG093166Ifgeleven'

Summary: The mature leaf of 'ARRATHIRTY' has seven lobes whereas that of 'IFG093166Ifgeleven' has five lobes. The upper side of the mature leaf blade of 'ARRATHIRTY' has a high proportion of main veins with anthocyanin colouration while that of 'IFG093166Ifgeleven' has an absent or very low proportion of main veins with anthocyanin colouration. Excluding the bloom, the berry of 'ARRATHIRTY' has green skin whereas the berry of 'IFG093166Ifgeleven' has blue black coloured skin.

Description:

YOUNG SHOOT TIP: wide open tip, sparse prostrate hairs, absent or very weak anthocyanin colouration of prostrate hairs, absent or very sparse erect hairs
SHOOT: semi-erect attitude (before tying), dorsal side of internodes and nodes are green and red, ventral side of internodes and nodes are green, absent or very sparse erect hairs on internodes
WOODY SHOOTS: dark brown, very early season bud burst
TENDRILS: long

YOUNG LEAF BLADE: upper side yellow green, sparse prostrate hairs between main veins on lower side, absent or very sparse erect hairs on main veins on lower side
MATURE LEAF BLADE: large, wedge-shaped, absent or very weak degree of blistering on upper side, seven lobes, medium depth of upper lateral sinuses, slightly overlapping arrangement of lobes of upper lateral sinuses, wide open arrangement of lobes of petiole sinus, high proportion of main veins on upper side with anthocyanin colouration, length of petiole is equal to length of middle vein
MATURE LEAF BLADE (LOWER SIDE): absent or very sparse prostrate hairs between main veins, absent or very sparse erect hairs on main veins
TEETH OF LEAF MARGIN: medium length, medium length to width ratio, one side concave and one side convex

FLOWER: fully developed stamens and fully developed gynoecium

BERRY BUNCH: very large, lax density, medium length peduncle of primary bunch
BERRY: begins ripening very early, very large, cylindrical shape, moderately easy detachment from pedicel, no particular flavour, no seed formation
BERRY SKIN: green (without bloom), medium thickness
BERRY FLESH: absent or very weak anthocyanin colouration, very firm

Origin & Breeding History: 'ARRATHIRTY' originated from a controlled cross conducted in 2008 between 'C.R.' and 'GRAPAES' as part of a grape breeding program located near Bakersfield in San Joaquin Valley, California, USA. The initial seedling of 'ARRATHIRTY' was selected in June 2010 based on seedless berries, berry shape and size, berry firmness, skin colour, cluster size and flavour. Additional selection criteria included time of fruit ripening, as well as amenability for storage, handling and shipping.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'ARRATHIRTY' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2014/3297, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted at the Centro di ricerca Viticoltura ed Enologia in Conegliano, Italy from 2015 to 2018.
