SHOOT: short to medium length
LEAF: elliptic, short to medium length, narrow to medium width, obtuse apex, no variegation, medium green on upper side
PEDICEL: short, absent or very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration
CALYX LOBE: short, very narrow
FLOWER: single type
COROLLA: narrow, weak degree of lobing, absent or very weak degree of undulation
COROLLA LOBE (INNER SIDE): absent or very weak conspicuousness of veins, medium violet (darker than RHS N78A) when newly opened, mainly medium violet (RHS N78A) when fully opened, medium amount of white (RHS NN155C) secondary colour along mid-veins, medium number of flowers with different sized area of secondary colour, medium violet (RHS N78A) when aged, truncate apex
COROLLA TUBE: narrow, dark violet (RHS N92A) on inner side, strong conspicuousness of veins on inner side, dark violet (RHS 79B) on outer side
ANTHER: light blue pollen
Origin & Breeding History: 'PEHY0044' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder, Theodorus van Kleinwee, in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands, in October 2015. The cross was made between the female parent variety 'PEHY0032' and the male parent, a proprietary seedling designated 'P0082'. The resultant seed was sown in January 2016. A single unique seedling was selected in May 2016, in Enkhuizen, based on plant growth habit, flowering time, flower size and flower colour.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'PEHY0044' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2019/1170, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2020. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
