GENERAL

• Origin & Breeding: bred by North Dakota State University in 1955 from (ND 2475-8 x A119-1) and selected at the Langdon Branch Station, North Dakota, in 1956.
• Year registered in Canada: 1968
• Registration number: 1140

BOTANICAL FEATURES

• Plants: medium-sized, compact; stems medium thick; nodes slightly swollen; wings prominent.
• Leaves: close, medium-sized to small, slightly dark green.
  Terminal leaflets: small, ovate; apex acute; base asymmetrical.
  Primary leaflets: small, four pairs.
  Secondary and tertiary leaflets: numerous.
• Flowers: pink, on dark green buds.
• Tubers: oblong to long; medium thick; heavily netted golden russet coloured skin; evenly distributed shallow eyes which become pinkish after storage; very white flesh.
• Sprouts: brownish pink.

AGRICULTURAL FEATURES

Medium to high yield, attractive appearance, resistant to growth cracking, internal necrosis, second growth, and vascular discoloration. Proper irrigation, early planting, and a set spacing of 20 to 30 cm between plants will prevent the development of hollow heart. Susceptible to drought, grades well with few culls, short dormancy period. High total solids.

• Utilization: good for boiling and baking, unsuitable for french frying and dehydration.
• Chief Market: early fresh market

REACTION TO DISEASES

Resistant: common scab.
Susceptible: black leg, fusarium dry rot, late blight, leaf roll, verticillium wilt, viruses X and Y.
